elementary OS 6 - a new visual style - Dark Style

The new visual style - Dark Style, is available right from the Home screen or at any time from System Settings → Desktop → Appearance. Choose the classic default style or a new dark style, and the default system and applications will follow suit. The dark style can also be programmed to follow the sunset and sunrise for your location or based on your own schedule.

10 new accent colors have also been added to the operating system - and the new automatic accent color preference chooses an accent color from the current background image.

In Elementary OS 6, all applications in the AppCenter are now packaged and distributed as Flatpak. You can now set all permissions required by applications to overwrite or revoke them.

One of the most common features for touch screen and touchpad users is the new multi-touch support in the basic operating system 6. A three-finger swipe up opens the Multitasking View. A three-finger swipe left or right switches seamlessly between workspaces.

OS 6 brings a redesign of notifications. Because notifications now use GTK widgets, just like native apps, they respect the preference for dark style and emojis are displayed in color. The notification center has also been redesigned.

The new Tasks app debuts in elementary OS 6, with a to-do list whether it's stored on your device or synced with an online account.

The web browser in Elementary OS 6 has been updated and renamed. Known as Epifany, the Web is now distributed as Flatpak to allow for faster updates.

Elementary OS 6 has expanded the multitasking settings in System Settings → Desktop → Multitasking.

Elementary OS 6 also brings new wallpapers designed in partnership with creative agency Freehive and photographer Brendon Porter, released under a Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 license.

Elementary OS 6 comes with additional features, support for newer hardware, updated libraries, updated translations, improved System Settings panels and more.
