Star Labs is working on porting the coreboot on Lite Mk III

The process is complex, involving configuration and testing hours. As soon as it is ready, they will release a beta version.

The big advantage of the coreboot is that it is open-source, so all the source code is public and uses exactly the same licensing (GPLv2) as the Linux kernel.

Coreboot, it will provide better performance and lower power consumption. For example, the LabTop Mk IV combined with coreboot will provide about 8% more performance and about 20% longer battery life.

Another advantage of being able to see the source code is that since the content is public - it cannot contain spyware or keyloggers.
