Având un router bun, ai o experienta de internet solida si placuta. De-a lungul anilor, am avut mai multe routere de consum. În urma cu ceva ani, am gasit ceea ce a devenit solutia mea pentru retelele de acasa si de la serviciu - pfSense.
PfSense este o solutie router software bazat pe FreeBSD. Ruleaza pe orice calculator 32 /64 de biti compatibil x86. Acesta poate fi instalat pe un hard disk, SSD sau pe un stick USB. Am rulat pfSense pe mai multe PC-uri „reciclate“ de-a lungul anilor fara probleme, dar am decis de curand (aproape un an) ca o solutie "hardware fresh" ar fi binevenita.
Iata cateva avantaje ale unui hardware nou (fata de "reciclate"):
- Consum redus
- Marime mica
- Cât mai putine piese în miscare
- Built-in NIC-uri de înalta calitate
Cât de bine functioneaza? Sistemul descris ruteaza conexiunea mea la internet fara sughit de aproape un an.
