A desktop environment is a collection of different components that integrate together to provide a common graphical user interface with elements such as icons, toolbars, wallpapers, and desktop widgets. In addition, most desktop environments include a set of integrated applications and utilities. For those unfamiliar with the Regolith desktop, it combines the GNOME-based management system with a keyboard-based user interface, built around i3-gaps, Rofi and other shortcut-centric tools.
Regolith is a modern desktop environment, designed to allow you to work faster, reducing clutter. The desktop environment is based on Ubuntu, GNOME and i3, Regolith.
What makes it different:
- Provides a desktop with a functional but minimal user interface, which can be customized and extended as needed.
- Combines the management functions of the GNOME system with the productive workflow of i3-wm.
- Allows new users a quick way to try a window manager.
- Supports easy customization through a consistent Xresource configuration.
- It is based on Ubuntu application repositories and package repositories.
- Provides script metadata and build package to allow users to easily customize the desktop environment and distribution.
