Oracle Linux 8.2 - publicly available ISO image

Oracle Linux, a server distribution built from the source code of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, has been updated to version 8.2. The announcement was actually made on May 6, but the ISO image of the product installation only appeared on public servers on May 5.

Oracle Linux 8.2 is the first version in the 8.x series to install Oracle Uncleable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) by default.

Individual RPM packages are available on the Linux Unbreakable Network (ULN) and on the Oracle Linux yum server. Starting with Oracle Linux 8 Update 2, Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 6 (UEK R6) is included in the installation image along with the Red Hat Kernel (RHCK).

For new installations, UEK R6 is activated and installed as the default kernel at first start. UEK R6 is a powerful kernel tested and optimized for the Oracle Linux 7 Update 7+ and Oracle Linux 8 Update 1+ operating systems.

Oracle Linux 8 Update 2 comes with (both include bug fixes, security fixes and enhancements):

- UEK R6 (kernel-uek-5.4.17-2011.1.2.el8uek) for x86_64 (Intel & AMD) and aarch64 (Arm)
platforms - RHCK (kernel-4.18.0-193.el8) for x86_64 platform (Intel & AMD) I HAVE D)
