Neptune 6.5 offers security updates, a newer kernel and an updated system package

Neptune is a Linux distribution based on Debian's Stable, except for a newer kernel, drivers, and newer versions of popular applications. The new version 6.5 offers security updates, a newer kernel and an updated system package.

This version offers more modern hardware support, offering Linux 5.6 kernel along with updates to its own firmware systems, as well as systemd 245.6 update. Neptune is now bootable on UEFI Secure Boot machines. With the newly activated buster-backports repositories, you can enjoy newer software updates for LibreOffice in version 6.4.5 and Inkscape in version 1.0.

The Chromium browser is also updated to version 83 and Thunderbird to version 68.10. When it comes to multimedia VLC has received an update to version 3.0.11, FFmpeg to version 4.1.4 and PulseAudio to version 13.

This version also comes with some modifications for KWin - the Plasma window manager, which removes the limit of 60 frames per second and should provide a smoother experience.

The Neptune Look and Feel has also been updated, which you can activate optionally and which is oriented to be a new default style of Neptune 7.
