Crust Technology, the most important open-source development platform is funded by the European Commission

Crust Technology Ltd, based in Ireland, is funded by the European Commission's Next Generation Internet initiative to provide the Cortex platform as a federated cloud sharing solution for records. Crust, the founder and maintainer of the Corteza Project, will allow the platform to share selected data layer components or entire data models. The new functions will allow easier distribution of data but also of open data sets created by public sector organizations and academia.

Corteza (The Corteza project is built on a 100% open-source, self-hosted cloud platform) offers a decentralized cloud alternative, (such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics365) and can be hosted locally, maintained and customized from top to bottom by organizations - granting sovereignty and full control to both organizations and end users. The Cortez platform is used by well-known Fortune 1000 corporations and large public institutions.

"We are delighted to have been offered this opportunity by the European Union's NGI Zero Program," said Niall McCarthy, CEO of Crust Technology and President of the Cortez Project. "Our goal is to provide federated clouds in which the user and administrator experience to look, feel and function as centralized clouds, but which is, in practice, supported by a more equitable and decentralized architecture. "

Cortez will be available for launch in December 2020. A complete suite of models can be viewed at https://cortezaproject.org/corteza-federation-previews.
