OSGeoLive 14.0 Malena released in honor of Malena Libman

Marco Minghini, head of the scientific project at the European Commission, says that “open source geospatial software is a key element of several data infrastructures managed and operated by the European Commission, offering high-level pan-European initiatives such as INSPIRE and Copernicus. The role of OSGeoLive in teaching and promoting the use of open source geospatial software has no equivalent.

Important aspects in this version:

- Based on Lubuntu 20.04.1 Focal
- New applications pygeoapi, Re3gistry, GeoStyler.
- Updates for most of the included packages.
- Virtual Machine now includes applications that cannot be included in the iso version. The list of applications available only for VM here.
- Additional Python modules such as Fiona, rasterio, cartopy, pandas, geopandas, mappyfile, Jupyter.
- Improved documentation and four new translations, now accepted: English Deutsch | Español | Suomen kieli | Français | Italiano | ??? | Hungarian.
- 100% Hungarian translation. Zoltán Siki, one of the Hungarian translators, stressed the need for translation and will use it in GIS courses at the University of Budapest.
- 100% Spanish translation. Special thanks to Martha Vergara who did 99% of the translation.
- Command line input.
- Improved Quickstart for OpenStretMap thanks to Enock Seth Nyamador.

OSGeoLive 14 is ready and will be used at FOSSGIS Konferenz 2021 in June and FOSS4G 2021 in September 2021.

OSGeoLive is a Lubuntu based on Open Source geospatial software, available via Virtual Machine, USB and DVD. OSGeoLive is pre-installed with software that can be tried without installing anything.

- Project overview and quick step-by-step startup for each application
- Flash presentation of all applications, along with the speaker scenario
- Translations in several languages

System requirements

Minimum resources: 1 GB RAM (2 GB recommended), 1GHz i386 or amd64 processor. No hard drive required.
