The first beta version of Krita 5.0 comes with a completely new resource system

The Krita team is launching the first beta version of Krita 5.0, a major release with many new features and many changes. The most important:

- Krita 5 has a completely new resource system. Krita no longer loads all brushes, patterns, gradients and so on at startup. Krita 5 will be slower at first start, and faster afterwards.
- How Krita 5 keeps a history of versions for resources that are edited by the user is not compatible with Krita 4. After using Krita 5, returning to Krita 4 may cause Krita 4 to display duplicate resources.
- Krita 5 can no longer load vector layers created in Krita 3 and older.
- Krita (.kra) and preset krita (.kpp) files created with Krita 5.0 are not guaranteed to be compatible with Krita 4!
- Krita 5.0 solved the problem with text size in documents. However, opening files created with earlier versions of Krita may require changing a setting to get the original text size.
- The problem in the beta version: if you run a G'Mic filter, the Krita settings are temporarily reset to the default values: the settings will be the ones customized again after the Krita restart.
