Canonical brings Linux to the M1 platform

Following Apple's announcement of the launch of a new line of M1 MacBooks, Canonical is rapidly bringing Linux to the M1 platform.

Multipass, the fastest way to run Linux on multiple platforms, received an update last week, allowing M1 users to run Ubuntu virtual machines with minimal configuration. nMultipass can download and launch a virtual machine image with a single command, and M1 developers can now run on Linux in just 20 seconds. Multipass 1.8.0 comes with other new features and improvements under the hood. One of these key features is aliasing.

Until now, M1 users could only run Linux with VirtualBox and VMWare.

According to Canonical product manager Nathan Hart,

"Canonical wants developers to run Linux faster than any other option on the market, and the Multipass team has helped make that happen."
