5 Ways to Make Ubuntu Faster

Ubuntu is a GNU / Linux distribution that generally behaves very well and offers enough speed that the user does not have to intervene in any way. If you still find that Ubuntu is not moving as fast as you would like, see below five ways to do it faster.

1. Disable applications that start automatically - open Home and type Startup. A window will open from which you can remove / activate / add / deactivate the applications that start automatically. After the restart, Ubuntu will move faster.

2. Use a lighter graphical environment - install Xfce, Lxde or OpenBox

3. Install proprietary drivers - open Home and write Drivers. Choose from there the latest versions of the proprietary drivers found. The operating speed will increase significantly.

4. Change Swappiness - will reduce the amount of information written and read from the SWAP memory which is slower and will use more RAM. Write the following command in the terminal:

sudo bash -c "echo 'vm.swappiness = 10' >> /etc/sysctl.conf"

5. Clean up junk - use Ubuntu Tweak for this and remove files that are no longer needed.
