10 reasons why I LOVE Linux

Without claiming that my perspective is "perfect" or "the most correct", I will offer you a different perspective on the world of Linux.

- It's free and legal. Between using commercial software in violation of the law and using a LEGAL AND FREE one, I chose LEGALITY! It seems fair to me to have an alternative to commercial programs, to have the right to choose. As it seems fair to me to answer for my choices and of course, to choose RESPONSIBLE and AWARE OF THE CAUSE!

- Supports and encourages global sharing of resources. The corporate philosophy is based on the principle "Everything is for sale!" Without entering into an endless controversy, I emphasize the fact that the resources of the planet are for ALL life forms. Sharing them is part of the natural laws of life development. Restricting access to any resource is an act of abuse and a form of Nazi dictatorship!

- Allows the contribution of anyone to global development. The licensing conditions of a Linux operating system allow anyone access to self-education but also to the manifestation of creativity. "Open Source", among other things, means that if you know how and can improve, you are provided with everything you need to perfect what already exists, through your own contribution! GNU licenses cover an ever-widening field of creation and creativity!

- Supports and develops the spirit of social entrepreneurship. Linux itself, viewed globally as a movement, is a form of social entrepreneurship. The product, generically called "GNU Linux", is found in a wide variety of variants, versions and derivatives. You have a choice and with what to build a business. If you take into account where you came from, it is much easier to direct the profit of your business mainly to the social side, in the spirit of the GNU-GPL license, with applicability to anything related to the field of creation. "Free and open source software" is just one example of intelligent resource management! We can ALL add today to the free dowry of humanity: books, music, drawing, movies, education, technology design, 3D modeling and maybe many more that I miss now.

- Offers unlimited possibilities for personal development. Everyone wants to get results according to their personal endowment and the capacity they feel inside! Linux, opens wide the door of an era in which the capitalization of the individual potential, is widely accessible and the development perspective depends on each person, on the personal contribution!

- It offers the possibility of a very cheap and even free education. Now education is very expensive. Education is another luxury that very few can afford. But this has begun to change fundamentally, with the development of FREE tools needed to produce EDUCATIONAL content. There are millions of free books, video tutorials, courses of all kinds today. Romania is still far behind what is happening in the world, but the tools exist and can be used by anyone! Linux, in addition to being free, is available with a wide range of applications, AND IN ROMANIAN!

- Allows individual development at your own pace. The speed of assimilation, of learning in a field of knowledge, is an individual characteristic. Therefore, it is natural, it is natural for different people to learn differently, at different speeds, the same knowledge, depending on the native skills. Some people have pronounced artistic inclinations, others, technical inclinations. Learning notions, assimilating knowledge in a field we need, but for which we are poorly endowed, takes place slowly, painfully and with exponentially high costs, if the learning process takes place in the classical environment, “at school, in the classroom ”. At home, in front of the computer, everything is much simpler! Who else wants me to learn this math that drives me crazy, even though I need it sometimes? I can do it by studying on the computer, in the rhythm that allows me the natural endowment! And this is true for everyone! If the programs I need are free, then I have access to education at no extra cost!

- Contributes massively to the elimination of discrimination related to access to education. Unfortunately, as we show above, access to education is conditioned by the financial possibilities of each and in general, of the families we come from. What more can I say about the QUALITY OF EDUCATION RECEIVED when the costs are tens or hundreds of times higher than the family's resources? Linux has solved this problem in quite a number of areas! I gave some examples above. ---- It depends on each one how we develop these tools! It depends on me, on you, on your acquaintances and friends, mine and all those who read this article!

- The rate and speed of response in crisis situations are much higher than commercial products. There are many difficult situations in life in general. Incidents also occur on the computer. A complex product can give way in an absolutely unpredictable way. Here, it's less important "Why did he give up?" and it is ESSENTIAL "How fast was it resolved?" In a collaborative economy, problems are solved more and more quickly, because everyone comes up with an idea, the possibilities are centralized and the solution is conceived! In the Linux world, the process can take several tens of seconds, minutes, or often less than 24 hours, even for complicated issues!

- Contributes to the development of sustainable economic models and to the promotion of sustainability. The current economy, as I said before, is based on monopolistic thinking and the induction of fear, of dependence on the owners of various monopolies, through false crises of all kinds. The oil and energy crisis are just two notorious examples. A sustainable economy is based on REUSE, SHARING AND COMMON RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. I mean, that's exactly what corporations hate: losing control of resources! The BitCoin phenomenon is just one example of a collaborative economy! Another educational phenomenon is blogging. Blogs are resources provided FREE of charge by their authors. If content creation were completely free, with no hidden costs involved, online education would certainly explode. However, we live in a world dominated by corporate use, by monopolies on vital resources (we pay for the water we drink, right?). I pay for almost all the resources I need to live! Clothes, shoes, food, housing. If I had to pay for the software I use, I would have to give up the internet and everything I have accomplished over the 15 years I have been using the internet! The costs of producing educational materials have decreased progressively, especially thanks to Linux and FREE software packages, which allow us to capitalize on our experience differently! I end here and invite you to reflect deeply on the possibilities that the Linux world offers you, first of all, for your own development!

In the published articles, we touched on just a small part of the themes that can provide inspiration for your creativity and for what you can do using Linux work environments!
